A concrete patio gives you a solid, even surface out the back door. Pro One Concrete pours full-size concrete patios for homes in Villa Rica and across west metro Atlanta. If the patio that came with the house is too small, a patio extension adds onto it. We also pour slabs for back porches and covered patios.
Our patios get a broom finish, the same plain finish we put on driveways. A patio can also be poured with a new concrete driveway or a garage slab. You get a written quote after we look at the job.
Tell us about the driveway, slab or foundation and where the property is. We look at the job and put the quote in writing.
A patio extension adds new concrete beside the patio you already have. The new section has to match the old one's height and keep the slope running away from the house. Concrete expands and shrinks as moisture and temperature change. Where new concrete meets old, the work calls for a planned joint between the two.
A back porch or a covered patio needs a slab that fits the roof going over it. Tell us about the roof at the quote, so the slab gets planned around the posts. The roof itself is a job for a builder, and the local permit office can say what it needs.
Start with how you plan to use the patio. Set your table and chairs on the grass where it will go. Pull the chairs back as if you were sitting down, then leave room to walk past. Stakes and string around that layout show the size you need.
Size and shape also decide where the control joints go. Concrete shrinks as it dries, and control joints give the cracks a planned line to follow. Industry guidance puts control joints about 10 feet apart on a 4-inch slab, with 15 feet as the most. Each panel should be close to square, so the joints break an L-shaped patio into square panels.
Ask how the patio will shed water. Georgia's residential code says paving within 10 feet of a house must slope at least 2 percent away. That is about a quarter inch of fall for every foot. A patio that tips toward the house sends rain at the foundation.
Ask about the ground. Before machines dig for a patio, Georgia law calls for a locate request through Georgia 811. Georgia 811 asks for it at least 3 business days ahead, so buried lines get marked first. In a sloped yard, the grading is part of the patio job.
Ask how the pour fits the weather. In a Georgia summer, heat speeds up the set, and sun and wind can dry the surface fast. Hot-weather guidance says to skip the hottest part of the day when possible. Curing should start right after finishing.
