Hiram went from 1,361 people in 2000 to 4,929 in 2020, by Census count. About half of its homes went up in 2004 or later. Many of the driveways from that boom are now 20 years old or more. When one has to come out, the slope of the lot and the clay below shape the new pour.
Pro One Concrete is a concrete company serving Villa Rica, and Hiram is part of our service area. As a concrete contractor in Hiram, we pour new concrete driveways and tear out and re-pour old ones. Call or text (770) 880-4224, and we look at the job and put the quote in writing.

Census estimates count about 2,000 homes inside Hiram's city limits. About two in three were built in 2000 or later. Nearly three in four are detached single-family homes.
Hiram started as a rural railroad town in 1891 and became the City of Hiram in 1956. About one home in four dates from before 1980, most of them from the 1950s and the 1970s.
Driveway replacement on a 2000s home means the old concrete comes out and new concrete goes in. We can widen the driveway or add a parking pad in the same job. A full-size patio can go in along with it.
The NRCS soil survey maps much of Hiram as Appling, Rion, Pacolet and Lloyd soils. Each has a sandy or loamy top layer over a subsoil with more clay. In the Pacolet and Lloyd soils, that subsoil is red clay.
More than half of the town is mapped on slopes of 6 percent or steeper. Rain runs downhill fast on a slope, so a driveway or slab needs a plan for the water. The ground under new concrete also has to be firm before the pour.
About a tenth of the city sits on creek-bottom soils that the survey lists as occasionally flooded. The main one, Cartecay, is rated somewhat poorly drained. Mill Creek and Lick Log Creek run through parts of town. Near a creek, check the FEMA flood map before you plan a house or garage slab.
Hiram covers about 4 square miles of land, but its 30141 ZIP area covers about 28. Census estimates put about 27,000 people in that ZIP area and about 5,200 in the city. Most homes with a Hiram address sit outside the city limits, in unincorporated Paulding County.
Inside the city, the City of Hiram's planning and zoning office answers zoning questions. Its page sends building permit questions to Paulding County's Community Development offices in Dallas. Outside the city limits, the county offices are the place to ask.
In Georgia, the local permit office decides which concrete work needs a permit, so ask before the job starts. State law also calls for a Georgia 811 locate request before any machine digging. When a permit question comes up, we point you to the right office.
Jimmy Lee Smith Parkway carries US 278 through most of Hiram. GA 92 crosses it in town, as Hiram Douglasville Highway to the south and Hiram Acworth Highway to the north.
The city has posted Georgia DOT news about widening SR 92. Paulding County more than doubled from 2000 to 2020, from 81,678 people to 168,661.
For a business along these roads, we pour commercial concrete such as equipment pads and small parking areas. Dumpster pads and walks at the door are part of that work too.
