Pro One Concrete pours concrete driveways for homes in Villa Rica and across west metro Atlanta. We take on whole drives, including the apron where the drive meets the road. That means new driveways and driveway replacement, where the old drive is torn out and poured new. As a Villa Rica concrete contractor, we specialize in driveways and slabs.
We also widen and extend drives and add turnarounds and parking pads. The walk to the front door, or a full-size patio out back, can go in on the same job. We pour plain concrete with a broom finish, a brushed texture that is not slick when wet. We look at the job and put the quote in writing.

Concrete driveway installation starts with the ground. Guidance from the ready-mix concrete industry calls for topsoil and soft spots to come out. The soil left under the drive should be compacted evenly, because a smooth, even subgrade helps prevent cracking. Grading is part of our driveway work, done before the forms go up.
Across Villa Rica, the USDA soil survey maps mostly well-drained gravelly loam over a clay subsoil. That subsoil is red clay in many spots and yellowish brown in others, with low shrink-swell. Rain still has to run off the drive and away from the house. Within 10 feet of the foundation, Georgia's residential code calls for paving to fall away at 2 percent or more.
When an old drive is cracked and broken up, driveway replacement is a tear out and re-pour. State law requires a Georgia 811 locate ticket before machine digging starts. The utilities then get at least two full business days to mark their lines in paint. After that, the old concrete comes out, and the ground is graded again before the new drive is formed.
A driveway extension adds new concrete beside the old slab or past its end. The new section has to sit flush with the old one and shed water the same way. In Villa Rica, the city's subdivision design guidelines set a 12-foot minimum width for a home's drive. At the property line, they allow 20 feet at most.
A turnaround lets a car leave nose first instead of backing out into the road. The Georgia Department of Transportation's driveway rules recommend one on state highways for that reason. For new lots in unincorporated Douglas County, the development code requires a turnaround where a drive meets an arterial road.
A parking pad off the side of a drive makes an L-shaped slab. Industry guidance says to avoid L-shaped panels, so control joints split the pad and the drive into near-square panels. A panel should run no more than 1.5 times as long as it is wide. Where the drive meets a walk or the garage slab, the same guidance calls for an isolation joint.
The apron is where the drive meets the road, and the agency that owns the road sets the rules there. Villa Rica sits on the Carroll County and Douglas County line, so the right office depends on the address. Inside city limits, the city's Building Development Department is the place to ask before work starts.
Outside city limits, a drive or culvert pipe in a Carroll County road's right-of-way needs a county public works permit. In unincorporated Douglas County, driveway permits come from the county's Department of Transportation.
On GA 61 or US 78, apron work in the state right-of-way needs a Georgia DOT permit. That covers widening an existing drive, too. Georgia DOT leaves upkeep of the drive and its pipe, up to the pavement's edge, to the property owner.
